Meet at 10.15 a.m. at Mill Road, Stokenchurch (HP14 3TP) for a 10-mile hilly walk to Christmas Common. Bring packed lunch. Short pub stop (drinks only) at the Fox and Hounds, Christmas Common. Option for tea or drinks after the walk at the Lambert Arms Hotel, Aston Rowant. Structural changes in our brain probably underlie such experiences. Like any organ or part of our body, the brain ages. This is healthy, normal, ageing and of course, if we use the brain, keep active and eat properly, we can minimise these effects. However, like any organ, there are many disorders of the brain in which the risk factor is age. ... " Come along to hear this talk on the ageing brain by Paul Bolam, Professor of Anatomical Neuropharmacology, Oxford University and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences. Time: 3:00 p.m. Meeting: Park in the long parking bay outside row of houses, close to Rainbow Inn. TV IVC members are welcome to join Oxfordshire IVC on this 8 miles walk.: Scenic walk starting at 3.00pm in quiet valleys of the Chilterns including a few steepish inclines. Lots of wild flowers in the summer. Visit en-route to the Victorian church of St James at Bix to admire the internal gothic brickwork, then onto the medieval ruins of St James at Bix Bottom. Through Crocker End and Warburg Nature Reserve. Passing the farmhouse where the spy thriller 'Restless' was filmed. Return via Stonor and along the Ridgeway. Drinks at the Rainbow Inn after the walk. "It's been 18 months since the Advertising Standards Authority started to regulate marketing claims made on the Internet. In that time, the Nightingale Collaboration has given the ASA possibly their most serious challenge yet: curbing the misleading claims made on Complementary and Alternative Medicine websites." Come along this evening to hear Alan Henness, Nightingale Collaboration Director, talk about who they are, what they have been up to and what their future plans are. Please bring a picnic, which we shall have at around 12.30. We may also stop at a pub for a quick drink further on, and again at the end of the walk. Too bad then that the main culprit is the Lord High Executioner Ko-Ko, who wishes to marry his beautiful young ward Yum-Yum, and who has no intention of executing himself. So when Nanki-Pu arrives in Titipu and declares his love for Yum-Yum, Ko-ko has the perfect candidate for execution. Except that Yum-Yum, by tradition, would have to be executed with Nanki-Pu. And Nanki-Pu turns out to be the Mikado's own son. Bring a picnic while you enjoy this comic opera. This is an open air event so dress for the weather. Book By: Please book early "Beyond the Veil" Mikron Theatre present DCI Mark Starkey who thinks he’s got a quiet patch in sleepy Thistledale, but all that is about to change dramatically when there’s a sudden, unnatural death on the local allotment… The grisly discovery down by the beehives is only the beginning for Detective Starkey. To unmask the murderer he must first uncover an altogether less savoury side of life in Thistledale; the bitter grudges, thwarted passions and murky pasts. And then there are the bees. The life of the honeybee might be described as one of great sweetness and harmony, punctuated by sudden, desperate, acts of violence. The same could be said for Thistledale.
