Legal Protection
Data Protection ActMembers' personal information (name, address and telephone number and email address) will be kept on the club’s membership list. This list is circulated only amongst members and is not available to outside parties. The list is held on a computer with appropriate security to prevent unauthorised access. Under the Act you have a right to object to this data being held. If you object your details will be removed from any computer-held lists. To object, simply write to the Membership secretary. Bulletins can only be sent by email to those whose details are on the computer list. Disability Discrimination ActThis Act applies to Thames Valley IVC as we have more than 25 members. The Act says it is unlawful for a private club to discriminate against a disabled member. This covers the way it allows that person to access any benefits, facilities or services. It is also unlawful to refuse or deliberately fail to give a person access to benefits, by taking away a person’s membership or changing the terms on which that person is a member. The Act says that we are legally responsible for the actions of our club, and the members’ actions towards a disabled person. This is just a reminder to everyone. |
